Alice Cooper has a new "goddaughter." The Czech news agency CTK says the rocker was in the Czech Republic over the weekend to christen four-month-old Maruska, a rare Indian rhinoceros at the zoo in Plzen.
Zoo officials say they had an elaborate ceremony planned for the occasion. But Alice was over an hour-and-a-half late, and only had a few minutes for the christening. He also spent time petting and feeding Maruska and her mother.
Cooper's zoo appearance was in conjunction with his headlining performance at Metalfest, which supports the Plzen zoo. This year's Metalfest is contributing nearly ten-thousand-dollars toward Maruska's care. The event also launched Cooper's month-long European tour.
