Wisconsin woman sentenced to 8 months in prison for nuclear protest

A northwest Wisconsin woman has been sentenced to eight months in prison for taking part in a protest outside a nuclear weapons’ plant in Tennessee.

59-year-old Bonnie Urfer of Luck in Polk County is with the anti-nuclear group Nuke-watch. She’s been in jail since mid-May, and her prison sentence is being reduced by the time she already spent behind bars.

Urfer was among a dozen people convicted in May of trespassing during a protest at a weapons’ plant in Oak Ridge Tennessee in July of last year.
